My husband calls these Patty O’Beans and tells everyone they are Irish. He creates a great background story about how they came from and Irish ancestor and its a secret recipe. Guess we don’t need to take a trip to Blarney Castle for him!

Actually this recipe came to me from my Great Aunt Dolly, or Grandma Dolly as I always called her. I love how simple they are to make and how much people love them. Sometimes I will make them a day ahead of when I need them just to let the flavors blend together more. My husband and brothers in law prefer them three days old. Other times I will make them and freeze them to act as an ice block in a cooler on a camping trip. Or I just just serve them the day they are made straight from the pan.
Ingredients:
Ground Beef (1 lbs)
Bacon (1/2 lb) cut up into bite size bits
Dry Onion Soup Mix 1 packet
1- 15oz can of Pork and Beans
1 – can of red beans drained
1- can black beans drained
1 C frozen baby lima beans
1 C Ketchup
1 Tbsp Mustard
1 Tbsp White Vinegar
2 Tbsp Molasses
1/4 C Brown Sugar
1/2 C water
Start by adding the meat and bacon to a large skillet and cook until the ground beef is no longer pink.

Then add in the onion soup mix and cook about 5 minutes more

While that is cooking just dump all the other ingredients on top of the meats and stir them well. Feel free to sample the sauce as it is cooking and adjust to your own taste. Sometimes I add garlic and paprika, other time I like them sweeter so I add more molasses. Once the lima beans are cooked you are ready to serve.

Enjoy!
